2003 Taft Street Russian River Vally Zinfandel from the Cobblestone Vinyeard Old Vines
Deep ruby red, but clear.
Very faint smells. No notable fruits or spices.
Wine is very thin, what I’d expect a pinot to be more than a Zin. Not much body to it.
Fairly dilute flavors. Still not identifying any significant fruit. Not very acidic, but could use more aromas of fruit
Fairly short finish. Tannins are smooth, leaving only the slightest hint of dryness behind.
It’s a very modest, light wine that I wouldn’t mind drinking without food, but there just isn’t too much flavor to it. I like it, but not as a Zin. I expect more kick, more body from a Zin than this. This is more like drinking in a light Pinot. Easily overpowered by soy sauce.
$12 at the Winery with President’s Club Discount
Served at room temperature with dumplings in soy sauce.
