Ma Po Tofu
Yet another Family Recipe:
Ingredients:
1/2 lb Ground Pork
1 lb firm tofu, cut into ~1cm cubes
2 stalks green onions
2 cloves of garlic, minced
2 teaspoons of corn starch
1 teaspoon of hot sauce
soy sauce
Directions:
Heat a wok on medium heat, add 2 teaspoons of oil and garlic.
Once garlic begins to brown, add ground pork.
Stir pork occasionally for even cooking, cook until there is no visible pink.
Add tofu and soy sauce liberally. Cook an additional 5 minutes.
Mix 2 teaspoons of corn starch with 1 cup of water separately and add to wok.
Add hot sauce.
Remove from heat and add green onions (cut into 1 cm pieces).
Note(s): The amount of hot sauce varies depending on how spicy you want it. I prefer to use the Rooster brand chili sauce rather than a paste, but any hot sauce will do. You can also use soft tofu, but I prefer firm since it doesn't come apart as easily. The amount of tofu also varies. I used to only use half of a carton before I started tossing in the whole thing. Amount of corn starch depends on how thick you want the sauce to be.
